Jason Leung of Macleans College won a high distinction and has been placed the highest Year 11 student at the New Zealand Economics Competition held on Wednesday night.

Five hundred students and teachers attended the event organised by the University of Auckland with presentations being made by Rosanne Meo OBE, Professor Greg Whittred and Professor Tim Hazeldine. <empty>

More than 3000 students took part in the competition with other high distinctions awarded to Jessica Cai, Irene Hu, Joshua Kang, Charlie Wang, Venus Wong and Vicky Yen.

This placed the Macleans students in the top five per cent of the talented economics contestants.
