Two Macleans College engineering students have been given apprenticeships in avionics with Air New Zealand.
<empty>
Tony Mackenzie and Matthew Williams will undertake a four year apprenticeship including a one year contract with the airline. <empty>

The students undertook a pre-training apprenticeship at Air New Zealand in the Turbine Engine Department as well as spending time
training with helicopters at Ardmore Airport.

From the initial intake, the two Macleans engineers were selected for further study with their engineering teacher, Corrie Lindgreen, describing them as top students. Last year, Tony received the college engineering award presented by Tools for Work.
<empty>
The numbers wishing to pursue engineering at the college have been increasing over the years. NCEA Level 3 standards from the domain Technology – General Education are on the ‘approved list’ for University Entrance.
