Some Are Born to become Eagles Macleans College 25th Annual Prizegiving
29.10.04
The 25th annual Macleans College Prizegiving was held last evening (28.10.04) with high achievers being recognized.
The polished ceremony began with a prayer from Mrs A Richardson followed by a welcome from the head prefect, Cameron Maingay, who referred to a poem quoting "Some are born to become eagles to spread their wings and fly". Cameron reminded the students to have pride and to do one's best.
Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Mr Martin Paget, said education was not free and that was why fee paying students were so important.
Principal Byron Bentley delivered his address (see here) followed by a former head girl and dux, Jacinta Lawrey who said it was not what one did but rather the way one did it. "It is important that whatever you do you do well with confidence and faith in yourself."
Jacinta also mentioned that the road less traveled in life could be an option and she encouraged the students to explore this. "Enjoy the journey," she said. "Celebrate the good things such as an exciting future."
Head girl Megan Pienaar offered a farewell as the evening concluded.
