Three musicians from Macleans College have been named as finalists in the New Zealand Secondary Schools Young Composer Competition for 2004.
They are Fiona Chua, Ajita Goh and Alexandra Chan.
More than 20 entries from around New Zealand were received with eight finalists being selected by the Auckland Philharmonia's conductor and composers in residence.
Alexandra Chan, year 11, received two highly commended awards from her composition called Planet X which she describes as "mysterious". The winner was a year 13 student from Otago.
