You may need to purchase further sailing gear appropriate to the sailing you are doing, i.e. if you end up crewing on an offshore yacht.
We have wet weather trousers and jackets for the J24 programs but the use of these will be limited, as you really need your own gear. The academy can purchase discounted gear on your behalf but you must provide the funds prior to purchase.
Stationary supplies are the student's responsibility.
Please note this is not a complete and final dress requirement, the student may require spare sets of clothing to suit and for the conditions.
Do you need to buy your own boat?
Yes, if you want to sail classes other than the ones the Academy owns e.g. 420 and J24. We can assist you with the purchasing of an appropriate boat and dinghies, like the laser are easy to sell on, as they are very popular. Charter boats are available and easily sourced.
Responsibility, Health and Safety?
We take a serious view of your safety and personal well being on our programs that we can deal with. You are responsible for your medical insurance and well-being for all other times other than in our programs and even then you are still responsible for your own and others well-being and safety.
New Zealand does have a medical system based on ACc hence the requirement for all students to join the club as members.
